Strong Voter Registration Ahead of March 5 Election

Kathmandu: Voter enrollment for the March 5, 2026, elections is showing promising momentum, boosted by the rollout of National ID–based registration alongside the existing biometric system.

According to the Election Commission, more than 300,000 voters have registered through the biometric system so far, while an additional 225,000 have signed up using their National ID cards.

To accommodate those unable to register biometrically, the commission has extended the deadline until November 21.

Officials admitted that some registration centers faced technical difficulties but said these issues are being steadily addressed.

The dual registration approach is intended to widen access and encourage greater participation ahead of the general elections.
