24 Disaster Incidents Nationwide, Fire Outbreaks Most Common

Kathmandu: A total of 24 disaster incidents have occurred across the country in the past 24 hours. Daily life has been affected in Himalayan and high hill districts due to snowfall. Among the reported disasters, fire incidents account for the largest share.

According to the National Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Authority (NDRRMA), fire incidents increase significantly during the winter season, often resulting in loss of life and property. The Authority reported that 16 fire incidents occurred nationwide.

The reported causes include negligence leading to fires in straw stacks, fires spreading due to strong winds, and injuries caused by carelessness while warming by fire. The disasters have caused an estimated loss of NPR 2.53 million. Seven people have also been injured.

As per the Authority’s details, two fire incidents were reported in Morang, while one each occurred in Sunsari, Bhojpur, Saptari, and Siraha. Fire incidents were also reported in Sarlahi, Rautahat, Bara, Ramechhap, Makwanpur, Kathmandu, Palpa, Pyuthan, and Kailali.

Similarly, snowfall has affected daily life in Baglung, Rukum East, Humla, Bajhang, and Baitadi. Incidents of animal attacks were reported in Saptari, Kapilvastu, and Doti. The Authority has urged everyone to remain cautious to stay safe from disasters.
