Petroleum Imports Continue to Rise

Birgunj (Parsa): Petroleum products worth Rs 90.06 billion were imported through Birgunj in the first six months of the current fiscal year. Compared to the same period of the previous fiscal year, petroleum imports during this period increased by Rs 2.75 billion.

In the first six months of the current fiscal year, Rs 37.85 billion in revenue was collected from petroleum imports. According to Birgunj Customs Office Information Officer Uday Singh Bista, both petroleum imports and the revenue generated from them have seen a significant increase compared to the same period last fiscal year.

In contrast, during the first six months of the previous fiscal year, petroleum products worth Rs 87.31 billion were imported, generating revenue of Rs 36.14 billion.

According to the Customs Office, diesel imports worth Rs 45.38 billion during the first six months of the current fiscal year generated Rs 19.85 billion in revenue.

Similarly, petrol imports worth Rs 20.98 billion generated Rs 13.82 billion in revenue, while LPG gas imports worth Rs 14.79 billion resulted in revenue collection of Rs 2.77 billion.
