Gachhiya (Morang): The installation and handover ceremony of the Lions Club of Gachhiya for the tenure 2025/26 has been successfully concluded. The event was held grandly on Wednesday (Falgun 13, 2082 B.S.) at Godavari Resort in Sundarharaicha.

During the ceremony, newly elected President Hemant Bhattarai, along with other office bearers, officially assumed their responsibilities. First Vice President Anil Shrestha, Second Vice President Krishna Katuwal, Secretary Rojina Thapa, Treasurer Matrika Dahal, and other members also took charge of their respective positions.

On the occasion, journalist Shiva Bhattarai Bhojpure, Managing Director of Sundarharaicha Update operated by Hasina Media Pvt. Ltd., was honored with a certificate and cash prize in recognition of his contribution to society through journalism. The Lions Club praised his continued efforts in promoting social awareness, information dissemination, and positive initiatives at the local level.

Addressing the program after assuming office, President Hemant Bhattarai unveiled plans to effectively implement various social service initiatives, including health camps, educational support, environmental conservation, and other community-focused programs. He also expressed commitment to providing funeral support services—such as shrouds, water, and refreshments for up to 50 mourners—for underprivileged or unattended deceased individuals during his tenure. This service is planned to be extended across Lions District 325 C, which covers approximately nine districts of Koshi Province.

Chief Guest and District Governor Babarjung Thapa congratulated the newly formed committee and encouraged them to expand Lions’ activities to grassroots communities. Immediate Past President Kamal Dahal expressed gratitude to all supporters and extended best wishes to the new leadership.

The event also included the induction of more than ten new members into the Lions Club, who were presented with membership badges. The program witnessed enthusiastic participation from Lions officials, members, local representatives, social workers, and residents.
